Pro-Life? Yes. Not addressed on his website but he is endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.
Pro-2nd Amendment? Yes. It is not addressed on his website but he is endorsed by FOAC.

Priorities if Elected: (provided to smartvoter.org)
Ø  Increased use of alternate dispute resolution alternatives.
Ø  Streamline procedural rules.
Ø  Increased use of technology to reduce court costs and administration.

Comments: I like Vic’s “Judicial Philosophy” on his website. When I spoke with Vic, he listed specific examples of cases where he would have direct experience. He also explained some of the aspects of the Superior courts to me without going over my head (which I appreciate).

Jack McVay, Jr.

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Current Job: Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge

Work Background: Assistant Allegheny County Solicitor, Assistant City Solicitor - Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Housing Authority General Counsel, Executive Assistant to Allegheny County Commissioner

Accessibility? Poor. There is a Contact button on his website but he has not replied to my emails.
Pro-Life? Stance is unknown. He is not endorsed by People for Life.
Pro-2nd Amendment? Stance is unknown. He is not endorsed by FOAC.

Priorities if Elected: (provided to smartvoter.org)
Ø  Utilize technologic advances like video conferencing, skype, and other innovations to make.
Ø  Expand house to evenings and weekends to accommodate working families.
Ø  Extend the rule of appellate courts that PA trial judges in lower courts must follow.

Comments: Jack comes across as warm and likable. His immediate experience is in Family Court. His experience in the Appellate courts is either very limited or non-existent.
I also have some questions about his phrases such as “balanced and restorative justice” and “rehabilitating offenders”. I wish he would have responded to my emails so I could have gotten some questions answered.

Summary: Vic is my pick. Vic has experience in the appellate courts and his opponent either has very little appellate experience or none at all. Vic’s work background is more versatile and I believe he will provide a more well-rounded and perceptive viewpoint on Superior Court.
As always, I encourage you to do your own research and feel free to come to your own conclusion.
